Tutorial for creating simple animations?
I'm about as far from "artistic" as a person can be, I'll be the first to admit. But I think I can do OK with simple stuff if I just knew what I was doing! :straight: Can someone recommend a basic tutorial for creating simple animations? For example, I downloaded an animated "fire" font for use on our website but it's not animated when I use the font. It'd be nice if I could just make my own.
Thanks!
J

Drawing fire so it looks like fire is not an easy task, and trying to animate it is more difficult.
Drawing a stick figure and animating it to walk is a much easier task in my opinion.

In my opinion the best tutorial on creating a fire effect is by Su Lawrence: http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest16/index.htm
As for creating animations using a Xara application an oldie but goodie is: http://www.xaraxone.com/mini2/mini2.htm

Re: Tutorial for creating simple animations?
Thanks so very much, Soquili! I'll check those out. I was toying with the idea of just fiddling (my "technical" term) with the upper quarter of the flames to give them just a little motion, enough to at least not have it as a static graphic. I did this so long ago, I've forgotten where I got it now. Maybe I should just start from scratch? Anyway, thanks very much for the links!!

Re: Tutorial for creating simple animations?
You could use the bitmap above, import it into an animation in Xara, copy the frame, use the Mould tool (in perspective) and adjust. Repeat as much as required. I found creating a bitmap copy of each mould contortion worked better.
