Snap to Grid
Hi, do you think is there maybe method use the Snap to objects button to snap certain shape to Grid?
According to the attached picture, I did the following
1) switching on the Show grid in Windows menu, with this a small + signs appeared
2) drew a green triangle, and would like if the top of it would be exactly at one of the + sign

Maybe such exact snap could be only applying a vertical and horizontal Guide line with switching on the Rulers?
thanks,

Re: Snap to Grid
If you hold down the Ctrl key, lines will be constrained to the angles that you have set in Page Options > General. Xara usually sets this angle at 45 degrees. But you can select other angles (I use 15 degrees), or set your own. For example, 72 degrees if you want to draw a star.
There is also an Isometric grid option (right click on the rulers and select Grid and Ruler Options. It is not a true isometric grid. There is a reason for this but I have forgotten a long time ago why.

Re: Snap to Grid
So how can one get the centre of a circle to be snapped to a grid as a default rather than an edge?

Turn on Snap to grid, use 'radius creation'.

Re: Snap to Grid
When moving the circle the centre will not snap to grid unless you select the circle icon it will always snap to circumference.
Unless of course the circle is the same size as the grid spacing

Re: Snap to Grid
Try grabbing the circle at the center (little x) and drag it over grid point.

Re: Snap to Grid
When selecting circle object to move you do not get the centre point unless you then do another selection on the circle icon tool.
That means 2 operations - that is what I was trying to say:-))
What I want is when the circle is selected I want the centre point to be shown, then have the choice of moving the circumference or the centre to the grid.
I would also thought that the circle centre was more important for alignment purposes than the circumference.

Re: Snap to Grid
In my understanding after Switching on the Window/Show grid and seeing the small + marks, only visually can be "snap" the objects and not by the Snap to objects button automatically.
Currently I am doing that switching on also the Rulers and creating a vertical and horizontal one, which are exactly going through one of the small + grid sign. In that case the Snap to objects already works automatically to this cross point, so also a circle center or anything
