Re: Xara Xtreme and Inkscape
EPS should do the trick, but experimenting with the EPS-export from Inkscape made me going nuts.
As far as I can see, Xtreme has some extreme troubles with importing perfectly normal EPS-files. Even Word renders the following file perfectly:

Xtreme does a wild guess what kind of file it is and than returns nothing. Ghostview?script, Acrobat, Word and gran' ole Illustrator have no problems with it.

What file types can Inkscape export to?
Egg
Re: Xara Xtreme and Inkscape
As Michael said Xara is not able to import EPS from Inkscape and other export formats are even worse (svg, ps, tex).
I'm afraid that conversion is the only way. I tried it through Adobe Illustrator - Ink EPS/SVG save as Illustrator EPS that Xara can handle.

Inkscape is a very capable SVG-editor, so it's main file format is SVG (and it does that with flare (no pun intended, Xara ...)). Currently, I'm testing Inkscape 0.43+devel, built Jan 18 2006.
Export vector filetypes are: SVG(Z), PS, EPS, POV and TEX.
Bitmap export by means of PNG. (with full alpha-channel transparancies)
Thanks to Google's efforts (Google's summer code event) the code has improved dramatically last month's and it's user interface is by no means as sleek as Xara's but very usable.
Given the fact that it's cross-platform I'd give it a very healthy future. More details at www.inkscape.org
