Ross actually started this, so you can blame him.
Having admired all the beautiful brushes posted by Ivan, Egg, and others; I was finally encouraged to make a serious attempt when Ross posted his "Ginger" brush. If he could post something edible, I could attempt to make a Corn brush. The attachment is a mini tutorial (requested by Ross )
I apologize for the file size, 61K; but I wanted it to be legable
Now, for a challenge to all my fellow Xartists. Who can make it look like "Indian" corn? That would be the type that has multiple coloured kernals in shades of red.

Great Soquili! It looks good enough to eat! You not only draw great corn, you are good at making tutorials too. Very clear and concise.
Thanks, Ross

Thanks Ross, it was fun making the tutorial. Although a little strange having to stop and write out the steps taken. Makes you truly appreciate all the work Gary does!

Nice corn ... never thought of a corn brush but hey there it is!
However I find something lacking in your corn ... ahem ... whats corn on the cob without butter eh? ;-) .... looks like we need a butter brush! Do I hear any volunteers? :-D

Hi David,
Yes, butter and salt would be great. Didn't want to press my luck trying to go for a Butter Brush

Of course D. is correct, you need to add a pad of slightly melted butter on top of the corn to top it off.
Other than this minor taste preference, I think the use of the brush to create corn is inspired and the tutorial is first rate.
Next, Cherokee Indian corn?

I am currently writing a review for FreeHand 10 (which is stone age compared to Xara).
That said, FH 10's new brush tool has a few features I'd like to see in Xara. Specifically a Variable setting that lets you specifiy a starting and ending value. So for example, I wanted the corn rows to grow from 90 to 100 percent and so I selected Variable instead of Random.
At any rate, FH 10's brush feature is one of the better ones.
With your permission, I'd like to include your corn brush in my review with a reference to Xara. I was going to use one of my glass brushes but this demonstrates something more creative and useful.

Hi Gary,
Sure, you can use the brush!! I had not posted the brush before, because I didn't think it would be useful for much except a still life drawing.
I'm speechless.

Not so difficult. At this time the brush exists only with the vivid colors. I used a copy with luminosity transparency to add color depth.
