because I've paid the full price for my copy.
With promos like this the software companies clearly show that they don't value A. their own product and B. their existing customers.
A free copy of a 3D software means it's not worth a cent - worthless. It's a matter of value. Now Maxon proved their product is of no value,
At least the barrier to grab illegal copies had been put considerably lower!
I'm still waiting for DaimlerChrysler to give away their Jeeps for free...

"The version we’ll be giving away is called Cinema 4D 6 CE - it's a PAL resolution version of Cinema 4D XL 6. There is no other limitation, there are no features missing, and Maxon has a fantastic upgrade offer to tempt you toward the light of XL 8."
What does this "a PAL resolution of C4D XL6" really mean (yes, I know what PAL stands for).
Also, what are the main differenses/improvments between XL 6 and XL 8?

good one Stu... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Some more info http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
C4D CE 6 has the same functionnality as C4D XL 6, but with one difference: the render resolution is reduced to 600x400 (or something like that - I'd have to check to have the exact numbers). You can however upgrade to C4D CE 6 Plus, which has no resolution limits and which is identical to C4D XL 6. Important: from a commercial viewpoint, C4D CE 6 plus isn't the same as C4D XL 6: upgrading to version 8 from the former will cost more than upgrading from the latter. And for those interested: in Germany the first magazine with the free version has already hit the market.
Paul - There are more changes between 6 and 8 then I could possibly mention.Six to seven was like an overhaul, and seven to eight was even more expanded again.
Stu.
Jens, You've had the full use of your C4D 6 package for, say, three years.
And this CE version is indeed scaled down in terms of resolution output, so it's of very limited use for professionals - but a great way to get started!

Wrong. **one** year, then v 7 was out. Now v 8 is out in the market. So we pay an annual rental fee if we are honest. **IF**.
I don't like this policy. Period.
