I achieved the psychedellic/Predator effects by using an app called Thermal Vision which I obtained for free from Google Play Store and took two photos but used two different colour sets then spliced them together. The hardwrae I used was a £30.00 Alcatel OT-903 Android phone.

What part of the process was done in Xara?

I used the copy, paste and transparency tools to superimpose one half of a second photo which had a different colour set to the original and superimposed it over the original. If you've got an Android phone you can download the app I used free from Play Store but it doesn't do thermal video. There's also a free night vison effect tool which can be dowloaded for free.
BTW the paper effect freebie'd be good for creating an ancient text effect.

I've found a free app called VideoFX which lets the user do Predator style videos. If you've got an android phone I reccomend it.
