I'm new in Phot Impact (today i just downloaded the tryal verion of UP XL) and i want to apply a paper effect to a photo. I tryed from palette gallery but i got an error message who sayd " Unable to apply the selected tumbnail's......."
I have made the smart download for materials but no effect.
What could be the problem??
Please help me.

hi... um, maybe try clicking on said photo, then right clicking and doing a copy and paste... just to have an object you can play around with http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif , then right click again and choose... Convert Object Type... and play around with the various options...
Let us know how you have faired... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Ionutz,
I have not been successful at all in downloading a trial version of PI XL and have tried many. So glad to hear that someone has been successful, please would you post your link for download? - thanks

Ionutz, there is a reason that certain effects work at different times.
The Convert object type WILL change an object from a path object to an image object, or vice versa.
However, this does have certain limits. There are effects one can apply only to path objects, and some only to image objects. However, some effects you can apply to a path object will convert it...So be observant...
It's a good idea before you convert a path object to an image object, be sure you don't have more path editing to do. You might try dragging your path object to the easy palette to save a copy, just in case you need to retrace your steps..
I hope this helps..

Dear Ionutz;
I too am new to Photo-Impact 10 and I tried to put a frame on a scanned greysale photo and got a similar message to you.
The fix I found was to go into Adjust, Convert Data Type and select Spit to CMYK.
I hope this is of some use to you and others on talkgraphics.com

Hi Gidgit, Re TGB 24 bit, this is not available in convert data type.
I tried the other available types without success.

Oh, I am sorry, I should have specified just where to go to enable this...
Go up into the top menus... Format>Data Type>24bit
Hope this helps http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
